BAHRAIN EMBASSY, OMAN

Hospitality in combination with security formed the essence of the design brief. The entrances and the various consulate functions are situated on the ground floor, drawn together by an inviting central reception area, recalling traditional Bahraini residences made up of a series of pavilions around a courtyard. The building as a whole is given a unified character by light-filtering façades made of local Omani stonework. Intended to express both hospitality and security, the facade recalls traditional Bahraini frames and forms the new public face of the embassy. Merging the symbology of our domestic architecture with the structural vocabulary of Muscat: classic modern architecture offers a new and contemporary image, adapted to the local context of Omani building traditions.
