EL MERCADO JANABIYA

When designing El Mercado, which translates to ‘the market’, our thoughts were to reshape conventional designs, to offer the Client a unique operating model whereby construction and leasing can be done in phases. Tasked with designing a fusion between ‘out of center’ urban-ism and rural culture, we looked to customize urban elements of creating a retail development to fit and be in harmony with the local character of Janabiya. Our design speaks out with its vernacular architecture which exudes and re affirms its statement of belonging by easily being woven into the fabrics of Janabiya’s community. The project would inject and stimulate trading in the area and attract consumers and businesses, creating a retailing hub and an experience that was previously unimaginable.
